sony uses music business accounting
old-school music industry accounting meets new-school technology in the courtroom:
Allmans, Cheap Trick sue Sony [mp3.com, 2006.04.27]The class-action lawsuit claims that the artists’ contracts require Sony to pay its artists about 30 cents out of every 70 cents it gets for digital downloads–out of a total of 99 cents that iTunes charges per song. But the complaint maintains that Sony is only paying artists 4.5 cents for each song.
I am reading alot of you guys complaints about the music industry ripping you off. Well one of the biggest music industry rip offs is on this page complaining. His name is RAMIREZ WILLIAMS of 3P ENTERTAINMENT. He says that he is from Louisiana and that he used to work for the rapper BG. Well, my son (14 years old) writes and performs his own music. Ramirez wanted my son and 6 other 14 year old boys to sign Contracts that was naming him sole owner of all of their music. He wanted them to pay for gas for rehearsal. He wanted them to pay for the T-Shirts that should come free with any record label. My son also said that he tried to sexually proposition some of the boys during a so-called “CONFIDENTIAL ORIENTATION”. In a nut shell, he is a rip off. I contacted BG’s real manager directly in Detroit, he says he has NEVER met this Ramirez Williams. So, my son and his friend left 3P Entertainment and started their own record label. Ramirez Williams is a fraudulent individual. On his website if you check it out, there are pictures of his group members from the group “14″ (ages of all members), notice how their shirts are off. Notice the comments on the bottom of the photos, where he refers to them as “SEXY”. If any of you have a 14 year old, what do you find “SEXY” about a MINOR? So I urge you all, if you are REALLY talented then you will be able to see BULLSHIT coming. REAL TALENT only requires leg work with getting your own talent recognized. You all can do that via the internet. I use it to locate talent shows to for my son and his group to perform in. The only thing I can say is (1) Copyright ALL music. (2)A real record label PAYS YOU, you DON’T PAY THEM!!!! (3) Have more FAITH in yourself and God than in anyone else (no one cares about your best interest better than you). (4) If you know your are good, don’t stop until everyone else knows it.
To all of you. This is an EXTREMELY HARD INDUSTRY to enter. It is geared to rip off the eager, untalented and uneducated. IF YOU HAVE TO RE-READ ANYTHING THAT COMES FROM A RECORD LABEL/PRODUCER, nine times out of ten SOMETHING IS WRONG. Keep your heads up and your eyes open, snakes can sneak up on you only when you are not aware of your surroundings.
God Bless.
