just don’t show us the ducks

in a followup to an important security story from last month, the notorious duck woman has been allowed to keep her business license.

”I basically agreed not to be present at school or church functions,” Williams said. ”And I also agreed to not ever bring products, only literature, to other public events that I might participate in.”

She also agreed to drop her federal lawsuit.

bzzzzzzzzzz…….

damn the pirate queen – or disney, at least

just after i praised good works by queen, along comes their label (or rather, the parent of their label, i suppose), and lays down the lawyers to defend the empire…

back in september, good musigeek waxy brought brought us a bit on te kleptone’s night at the hip-hopera, and went the extra mile, mirroring the work and tracking down a really comprehensive sample list (credit where due)…

then today, waxy gets a done to others since the good old days of uncle walt [pdf].

update: boingboing has it. it’s got legs.

i’m down with the coalition of the willing

bob dylan, masters of war

You might say that I’m young. You might say I’m unlearned, but there’s one thing I know, though I’m younger than you, even Jesus would never forgive what you do … And I hope that you die and your death’ll come soon. I will follow your casket in the pale afternoon. And I’ll watch while you’re lowered down to your deathbed. And I’ll stand o’er your grave ’til I’m sure that you’re dead.

why on earth would i quote bob dylan here?

School Talent Show Draws Secret Service [ap via abc news, november 15, 2004]

[Boulder High School principal Ron] Cabrera said Secret Service agents questioned him for 20 minutes and took a copy of the lyrics. They did not ask to speak to any of the students but they did question a teacher who had supervised a student protest that was held at the school last weekend.

so when they come to question, threaten or harasss allysse wojtanek-watson (singer), forest engstrom (“leader”), their bandmates, teachers, school administrators, or fans, they are questioning, threatening and harassing me.

surely, if singing the lyrics is worthy of an investigation, copying them to a web server is equally threatening. where’s your copy?

u2 games the p2p networks?

barry’s keeping me on the ball, so to speak, with this piece on the u2 album “leak”

we discussed this promotional approach back in january…. here.

of course, taking credit for this strategy essentially blows the strategy, so we’ll probably never know if the leak was intentional or accidental, but we can watch the cd sell despite (or because) of p2p popularity…
