$2m spam fine

california court smacks down a spammer

the court ordered a $2 million fine and imposed a 10-year injunction on pw marketing llc, paul willis and claudia griffin.

bad paul. bad claudia.

rock on, california. another 2500 or so of these, and you’ll close the deficit (if the last number i heard – $5b operating deficit – was accurate)

rafe does have some salvation (compared to my last post), with some additional first-page hits if you add a few words or look for the hobart shakespeareans. still, i was hoping for better.

i would make some grand insightful comments about what brings people here, but not tonight. you people seem to like the music business stuff and the political stuff.

checking rafe’s googlejuice

it seems at least one blog picked up on rafe, so i thought i’d see how the googlejuice for rafe was doing.

in an unfortunate development, it seems google has deemed my post on rafe esquith “not relevant” – it’s still on the first page but only if you go through the whole mess and “repeat the search with the omitted results included.” even then, it’s falling – now ranked #9.

i do hope this changes – i’ll check again sometime soon.

bold moves in terror

according to a usa today article (and several other reports, but i think this is an early one), defense secretary donald rumsfeld thinks the united states has not “yet made truly bold moves” in the war on terrorism.

is there something particularly timid about invading and occupying two countries? maybe that’s just a different war, and i just haven’t kept up.

i hate to read into thinks, but sometimes things reach my attention with just very bad coincidental timing.

in the tritium business again

according to an associated press report, the united states has resumed tritium production after a 15-year break.

i suppose that makes sense, since the half-life of tritium is something like 12 years, and you think you’re going to need a sizeable thermonuclear arsenal available on short notice.

storycorps

opening today in new york, storycorps has their first booth in grand central.

a first step in building a turn-of-the-21st-century oral history of america.

personally, i hope the vision expands. the rest of the world has interesting stories too.
